A prompt of 200k tokens or more is billed at double those rates for the whole request. Grok 4.3 and the Grok 4.20 models cost less ($1.25 in, $2.50 out) and accept up to 1M tokens. Prices are xAI's list prices, checked November 6, 2026. #### Grok API prices per million tokens These are the standard rates for prompts under 200k tokens, from [xAI's model docs](https://docs.x.ai/developers/models). They are list prices in US dollars and do not include tax. If xAI's page shows a different number, trust that page. #### How long-context pricing works Every text model has a second price tier. Once a prompt reaches 200k tokens, the higher rate applies to all tokens in that request, not only the tokens past 200k. For Grok 4.7 and Grok 4.6 the long-context rates are $4 input, $1 cached input and $12 output per million tokens. Grok 4.5 is $4, $0.60 and $12. Grok 4.3 and the Grok 4.20 models are $2.50, $0.40 and $5. grok-build-0.1 is $2, $0.40 and $4. A worked example: a 250k-token prompt to Grok 4.7 costs $1.00 for input (250k at $4 per million). Split into two 125k-token prompts, the same input costs $0.50. If your job allows it, keeping prompts under 200k halves the bill. #### Grok context windows Grok 4.7, 4.6 and 4.5 accept up to 500k tokens. Grok 4.3 and the Grok 4.20 models accept up to 1M tokens. grok-build-0.1 accepts 256k. According to xAI's release notes, Grok 4.7 and 4.6 take text and image input and return text only. A larger window is useful for long documents, codebases and agent runs that keep a lot of history. It is also where the long-context price starts, so check whether a job really needs more than 200k tokens before you send them. #### Which Grok model to pick **Grok 4.7** is the default for hard work: xAI calls it the most capable model it has built and recommends it for code and chat. Reasoning effort can be set to low, medium, high (the default) or xhigh. Higher settings usually use more output tokens, so they cost more per task. **Grok 4.3 or Grok 4.20** fit high-volume jobs and very long inputs, at less than half the flagship's output price and with a 1M window. **Grok 4.7 Fast** costs twice the standard rate (1.5 times for long-context requests). It is only available in Cursor and Grok Build, not as a model on the public xAI API. #### Grok 4.6 and 4.7 on Amazon Bedrock and Microsoft Foundry **Amazon Bedrock:** Grok 4.6 became generally available on Bedrock on August 18, 2026, a week after it launched. Model IDs are xai.grok-4.6 on bedrock-mantle (in-Region in US West, Oregon) and the cross-Region profiles us.xai.grok-4.6 and global.xai.grok-4.6 on bedrock-runtime. AWS lists $2.00 per million input tokens through global cross-Region inference and $2.20 in-Region. It works with the Responses, Chat Completions and Converse APIs. **Microsoft Foundry:** Grok 4.6 arrived in public preview on August 26, 2026. Grok 4.7 has been generally available in Foundry Models since October 6, 2026. Global Standard deployments cost $2 input, $0.50 cached and $6 output per million tokens. US Data Zone deployments cost $2.20, $0.55 and $6.60. #### Watermarking from November 7, 2026 From November 7, 2026, text output from grok-4.7, grok-4.6, grok-4.5, grok-4.3 and the grok-4.20 models carries an invisible statistical watermark by default. Each response has an x-watermark header, and true means that output was watermarked. Team admins can turn it off per model in the console, but only after confirming a legal exception applies. Some models may stay locked on. Read [our watermark news post](/news/grok-api-watermark-november-7) for the details. #### Image, video and voice prices #### Grok API vs Grok Bot and the Grok apps The API is billed per token to developers. Grok Bot and the Grok apps are paid through The X Subscription, where usage comes from a weekly allowance. Plan prices are in [how much Grok Bot costs](/guides/grok-bot-cost-download), and the recent change to allowances is in [Grok Bot usage limits](/news/grok-bot-usage-limits-serving-costs). Want to see what people build on top of these models? Browse [verified shared Grok Bots](/bots) or start from a [Grok template](/grok-templates). ### How much does Grok Bot cost? Plans, trial and download - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/grok-bot-cost-download - Published: 2026-11-03 Short answer: Grok Bot is not a separate subscription. On The X Subscription, where new customers start, it is included with Premium ($30 a month), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200). Plus ($8) and Free do not include it. Some accounts can start a trial from the app. The desktop app runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, and the phone apps are on the App Store and Google Play. #### How much does Grok Bot cost? Prices below are the list prices on [xAI's pricing docs](https://docs.x.ai/x-subscription/pricing), checked November 3, 2026. They do not include sales tax. The public pricing page is [x.ai/pricing](https://x.ai/pricing); if a number there differs, trust that page. Grok Bot usage on The X Subscription comes out of the same weekly pool as Cursor and the Grok apps. It is not a second bill on top of the plan. Super and Ultra include a larger pool than Premium. Usage past the pool is prepaid additional credit. Third-party models in Cursor are not part of the included pool. #### Which plans include Grok Bot? On The X Subscription, Grok Bot is included for an individual or a team seat on Premium, Super and Ultra. The [docs](https://docs.x.ai/x-subscription/grok-bot) say it is available as soon as you subscribe or unify onto one of those plans. Plus does not include it. The public pricing table also lists Teams from $30 per user a month, with Grok Bot included. Enterprise is custom. Team seats share the idea of one workspace and one bill for Cursor and Grok, plus X benefits when a personal X account is connected. If you are still on an older Cursor plan, the [Grok Bot FAQ](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/faq) says Grok Bot is included with every paid individual plan and with Cursor Teams. Pro includes weekly usage, Pro+ a larger weekly allowance, and Ultra the highest. You can also link an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy or X Premium+ subscription, or sign in with a seat on a self-serve Grok Business plan. On those legacy plans, Grok Bot usage is metered on the Cursor account, not on Grok or X. When the weekly limit runs out, extra usage can continue as on-demand usage if that is turned on. New customers start on The X Subscription. Switching an existing SuperGrok or Cursor plan is optional. If you do switch, the old subscriptions on the accounts you combine are cancelled at checkout, with a prorated refund for unused time, and a completed switch cannot be undone. Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google have their own cancel steps, which the same doc spells out. #### Is there a Grok Bot free trial? There are two different trials, and they do not work the same way. The in-app trial, from the [FAQ](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/faq): some accounts see Start Trial on the access screen. That trial is a usage credit inside a 7-day window. It does not turn into a paid plan. The credit is used up by agent steps and tokens, not by how many messages you send, so one large job can spend all of it, and used credit is not restored. On a free plan, Cancel Trial in Settings removes any credit left and you cannot start that trial again. There is no charge to cancel. On a paid plan or a Teams seat, the trial ends on its own. The referral trial is separate. [Refer friends to Grok Bot](https://docs.x.ai/x-subscription/referral-program) gives the friend a 2-week trial of Premium. A credit card is required, they are reminded 7 days before the first charge, and the trial becomes a paid subscription unless they cancel. An App Store trial started in the iOS app is a third case: Apple runs it, and it becomes a paid Apple subscription unless you cancel first. So "is Grok Bot free?" has a narrow yes. Free and Plus plans do not include it. A short trial can be free. After that, the cheapest listed plan that includes it is Premium at $30 a month, or $25 a month billed annually. #### How do you download Grok Bot? There is no separate Grok Bot login. The desktop app uses your Cursor account. If your access is a Grok Business seat, choose Sign in with Grok. If it comes from SuperGrok or X Premium+, the app asks you to link that subscription. Settings, then Usage & Billing, has Get Access with Grok on desktop. Installers are on the [Grok Bot download page](https://cursor.com/download/bot) and at [x.ai/bot](https://x.ai/bot). The [get-started guide](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started) lists the same builds: Mac (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows (x64 and Arm), and Linux (x64 and Arm). The app checks for updates itself. On an Apple silicon Mac, an Intel build can offer the matching download. If you do not have dashboard access, ask an admin for the install link. On a phone, install Grok Bot from the App Store (iOS 18 or later) or Google Play (Android 9 or later) and sign in with the same account. The phone apps share the Bots, chats, routines and cloud computer with desktop. Teaching a workflow by demonstration, testing routines and updating the computer stay on desktop. #### What does Grok Bot do after you install it? The first Bot is created for you and opens a chat. You add more with the + button. Give each Bot one job, connect only the tools that job needs, and keep sending, paying, deleting and production changes behind approval. A plain-language version of the product is [What is a Grok Bot?](/guides/what-is-a-grok-bot). Jobs people already run are collected in [the best Grok Bots for coding, research and productivity](/guides/best-grok-bots-coding-research-productivity). People looking for a Grok Bot marketplace usually want a public Bot they can add, not a store inside the app. GrokShelf is an independent directory, not an xAI shop. Browse [Grok templates](/grok-templates) or [verified shared Bots](/bots), open the x.ai page, and choose Add to Grok Bot. That copies the public setup into your account. It does not copy the creator's logins. Team Bots are the version that stays inside a company instead of being public. See [Team Bots](/news/team-bots-launch) for how that sharing works. #### If the app will not start GrokShelf does not run Grok Bot, so this site cannot tell you whether Grok Bot is down. The docs say most setup problems clear after you fully quit and reopen the app, then point to [troubleshooting](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started). Accounts on Privacy Mode (Legacy) are asked to switch to Privacy Mode before a Bot can start, because Grok Bot needs cloud data storage. ### Grok Bot vs Muse: which personal agent is which - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/grok-bot-vs-muse - Published: 2026-11-03 Short answer: they are both agents with a computer of their own, and they are aimed at different jobs. Grok Bot is a team of work Bots you design, schedule and share. Muse is Meta's personal agent, built to message like a person and take everyday tasks off your plate. If you also see dots in the same searches, that is OpenAI's agent, covered in the [three-way comparison](/guides/grok-bot-vs-openai-dots-vs-claude-duet). #### What each product is xAI introduced Grok Bot on August 11, 2026 as a team of always-on agents. Each Bot has a job, a chat and routines, and they share a cloud computer. You start work by chatting, by a schedule, or by an event from Slack, GitHub, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty, email or a webhook. Creators can publish a public x.ai/bot page that someone else adds as a copy. That is the layer [GrokShelf lists](/bots). Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026, and updated the announcement on September 30. Muse is a personal agent that messages you in the Muse app or in WhatsApp, runs on a dedicated virtual machine called Muse Secure VM, and uses Muse Spark. Meta's line is that you tell it what needs doing and it takes the action: email, travel, forms, longer goals. It keeps working after you close the app and comes back when something changes or when it needs a yes ([Meta's announcement](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/09/introducing-muse-personal-ai-agent/)). #### Grok Bot vs Muse, side by side The rows are taken from each company's own pages, read on November 3, 2026. Neither page is a benchmark of which agent finishes a task better. #### The differences that decide it **One agent or a team of them.** Muse is one personal agent with a main chat and, in Meta's design notes, side chats when a project needs its own thread. Grok Bot expects several Bots. A research Bot, an inbox Bot and a coding Bot do not share one conversation. That is also why a directory of [shared Bots](/bots) and [templates](/grok-templates) exists for Grok Bot and not, in anything Meta has published, for Muse. **Work tools versus everyday life.** Grok Bot's event triggers are Slack, GitHub, Linear and the rest of a work stack, and Cursor plans are one of the ways in. Muse's examples are the household and the personal inbox: a saved recipe turning into a grocery list, a bill, a trip, a dinner plan. It can reach work, but that is not the pitch. **Who watches the computer.** Grok Bot lets you open the computer and take a step the agent cannot finish, such as a passkey. Muse puts a separate Sentinel on the same machine. Meta says nothing reaches the internet unless the Sentinel allows it, and Muse cannot see passwords or payment numbers, including passwords you type in its browser yourself. **How you pay for it.** Grok Bot's price is a plan you can look up: Premium and above, with the amounts in [how much Grok Bot costs](/guides/grok-bot-cost-download). Muse's announcement says it is free for most of what people need, with paid plans if you want to do more, and does not publish those prices. Treat any specific Muse price you see elsewhere as unchecked until Meta lists it. #### Where dots fit Search interest also lumps in "dots" and "Grok Bot vs Muse vs dots." Dots are OpenAI's always-on agent inside ChatGPT, Slack and Teams, announced September 29, 2026. They are closer to Muse in being one personal agent, and closer to Grok Bot in living next to work chat. The full table, including Claude Duet, is in [Grok Bot vs OpenAI dots vs Claude Duet](/guides/grok-bot-vs-openai-dots-vs-claude-duet). A practical split from those pages: pick Grok Bot when the work is repeatable, shared with a team, or tied to GitHub, Linear or a schedule. Pick Muse when you want one agent for personal errands in an app that feels like a message thread, and you are in the US rollout. Pick dots when your day already runs through ChatGPT. #### What this page does not claim It does not say which agent is smarter. Meta and xAI have not published a shared benchmark, and early reviews, including Peter Yang's notes on [Grok Bot, Muse and dots](https://x.com/petergyang/status/2112995494612082931), are one person's use, not a test. It also does not cover Instinct or other agents that show up beside these queries unless their maker has a page we can cite the same way. If you start with Grok Bot, add one public Bot for a single job and read [Using a Grok Bot safely](/guides/using-grok-bots-safely) before you connect an inbox or a repository. ### Grok Bot vs OpenAI dots vs Claude Duet: the always-on AI agents compared - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/grok-bot-vs-openai-dots-vs-claude-duet - Published: 2026-10-31 Short answer: all three are agents with their own cloud computer that keep working when you close the laptop, but they're built for different people. Grok Bot is a team of specialised Bots you trigger with schedules and events, and you can share them. OpenAI's dots give you one agent that learns how you work across ChatGPT, Slack and Teams. Claude Duet is the most cautious of the three: a personal agent that checks your accounts every few hours, briefs you each morning and asks before anything consequential. #### How we compared them In the space of ten weeks, xAI, OpenAI and Anthropic each shipped an agent that works while you're away. xAI went first with [Grok Bot on August 11](https://x.ai/news/introducing-grok-bot). OpenAI followed with [dots on September 29](https://x.com/OpenAI/status/2104984504133918973), and Anthropic opened a research preview of [Claude Duet on October 21](https://x.com/claudeai/status/2112984664256241837). Shortly after Duet's announcement, one reply from an OpenAI engineer summed up the mood: ["Dot, meet Duet."](https://x.com/thsottiaux/status/2112992042465009736) The race is clearly on. Everything below comes from each company's own announcement, help center and documentation, read on October 31, 2026. Where we rely on anyone else, we say so. One honest caveat: Claude Duet is a US-only waitlist and dots are limited to certain paid plans, so this is a comparison of what each product does and promises, not a benchmark of how well each one performs. All three are moving fast, so check the linked sources before you rely on a specific limit. #### Side-by-side comparison #### Grok Bot: a team of agents you design xAI pitched Grok Bot as "your team of always-on agents", and the team part is the real difference. Instead of one assistant, you create several Bots, each with its own job, chat and routines, working on a cloud computer of their own. They sign in to the tools you already use, including sites with no clean API, and come back to you when something needs approval ([xAI announcement](https://x.ai/news/introducing-grok-bot)). Grok Bot is also the most explicit of the three about when work happens. A routine runs on a schedule, such as every weekday at 8 a.m., or when an event arrives from Slack, GitHub, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty, email or a webhook. Each Bot can own up to 50 routines, and reusable skills are shared across all your Bots. You can even teach a skill by demonstrating a browser task for up to ten minutes ([xAI docs](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/skills-routines-and-automations)). It's also the only one built for sharing. Teams can share the same Bot with chat-only or manager roles ([shared Bots docs](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/shared-bots)), and creators publish public x.ai/bot templates that anyone can copy. That's why a directory like [GrokShelf's verified shared Bots](/bots) exists at all. If you want to see what people build with it, start with [the best Grok Bots for coding, research and productivity](/guides/best-grok-bots-coding-research-productivity). #### OpenAI dots: one agent that learns you OpenAI calls dots "remarkably capable, always-on agents built to handle everything". Each one runs on GPT-6 Astra with its own cloud computer and browser, connects to more than 4,000 apps through plugins and, OpenAI says, learns your preferences and "what good looks like to you" the more you work together ([OpenAI](https://openai.com/index/introducing-dots/)). Dots meet you where you already are: ChatGPT on desktop, web and mobile, plus Slack and Teams, with voice calls and a US texting beta for some Pro users. When you're not talking to it, a dot does "proactive research" using your connected apps through read-only tools, so it can't send messages or change anything on its own while it looks for ways to help. You can open its computer to inspect its work, and optionally let it use your own laptop, which is off by default ([OpenAI Help Center](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001530-getting-started-with-your-dot)). Control comes from built-in rules and your own Custom Rules, which can allow, require approval for or block specific actions, plus an auto-review step that checks risky actions against them. A monitoring system can pause or stop a dot if it detects a safety concern. Today you get one primary dot; OpenAI says you'll be able to add more later, and specialist dots for companies are in enterprise pilots, including with Microsoft's Agent 365. #### Claude Duet: the careful personal agent Anthropic's pitch is restraint. Claude Duet is "a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent" that comes to you with what needs attention, completes the tasks you give it, keeps working when you step away and "checks with you before it acts on your behalf" ([Claude on X](https://x.com/claudeai/status/2112984664256241837)). Each morning it sends a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps ([Anthropic](https://claude.com/resources/articles/claude-duet)). It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 in its own virtual machine and browser, and you can't choose another model; Duet decides how much effort each job needs. It carries over your memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account, so there's little setup ([Claude on X](https://x.com/claudeai/status/2112984666437546104)). It reaches Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly, among 6,000-plus connectors, and uses a one-time card for each purchase ([Claude Help Center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/17631495-get-started-with-claude-duet)). The guardrails are the strictest here. Duet shows you exactly what it's about to do before it sends, pays, signs or deletes, and some actions, like trading securities or moving money between accounts, are off-limits even with your approval. It never sees your passwords, and a separate classifier stops it from sharing the most sensitive data, such as card numbers and government IDs. Anthropic is upfront about the gaps: Duet checks your accounts only every few hours, can misjudge urgency, can't show you its browser and lives in an app separate from the main Claude app. #### The differences that actually matter **Who decides when work starts.** Grok Bot does what you've scheduled or wired to events, which makes it predictable. Dots look for ways to help on their own, but only with read-only tools until you engage. Duet checks in on a fixed rhythm and briefs you. If surprises make you nervous, Grok Bot and Duet are the calmer choices. **One agent or many.** Grok Bot is built for several specialised Bots that you can share with a team. Dots and Duet each give you a single personal agent today, and OpenAI is the only one promising more per person. **Where you live.** If your day runs on ChatGPT, Slack or Teams, dots fit most naturally. If you're already a Claude user, Duet inherits everything you've set up. If your team works in Cursor or on GitHub and Linear, Grok Bot's event triggers are hard to beat. **How careful it is with money.** All three ask before consequential actions, but only Duet puts some financial actions permanently off-limits and issues a one-time card for every purchase. #### Which one should you choose? #### What none of them does yet None of the three is a set-and-forget employee. Each company tells you to review consequential work, each can misread a thread, and each is still in beta, preview or early rollout. Pricing is also unsettled: OpenAI says you'll eventually pay for extra dots or more output, Anthropic hasn't announced a price beyond the preview, and Grok Bot meters usage separately. Creator Peter Yang, who had early access to Duet, [compared it with Grok Bot, Muse and dots](https://x.com/petergyang/status/2112995494612082931) and called Duet the most proactive. That's one person's view, and it's exactly the kind of comparison that will change as all three improve. We'll update this page as the products change. For Meta's Muse, see [Grok Bot vs Muse](/guides/grok-bot-vs-muse). For the current plan prices and the Windows, Mac and Linux download, see [how much Grok Bot costs](/guides/grok-bot-cost-download). For the previous generation of custom assistants, see [Grok Bot vs ChatGPT custom GPTs vs Claude Skills](/guides/grok-bot-vs-custom-gpt-vs-claude-skills), and for the basics, [what a Grok Bot is](/guides/what-is-a-grok-bot). ### Grok Bot vs ChatGPT custom GPTs vs Claude Skills: what's actually different - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/grok-bot-vs-custom-gpt-vs-claude-skills - Published: 2026-10-31 Short answer: they solve different problems. A Grok Bot is an agent with its own cloud computer that runs jobs on a schedule or when events arrive. A ChatGPT custom GPT is a configured chat assistant, and OpenAI is retiring custom GPTs in favour of plugins, with standard retirement on December 11, 2026. A Claude Skill is a folder of instructions and scripts that Claude loads only when a request needs it. If you want work done while you're away, that's a Grok Bot; if you want Claude to do one kind of task better, that's a Skill. #### How we compared them Everything below comes from each vendor's own documentation, read on October 31, 2026: xAI's Grok Bot docs, OpenAI's help center and Anthropic's Claude platform docs. Where a claim comes from somewhere else, we say so. We compared what each thing is and how it behaves; we did not benchmark answer quality, because that depends far more on the model and your instructions than on the container. These products change quickly. OpenAI's GPT help article had been updated less than an hour before we read it, so check the linked sources before relying on a specific date or limit. #### Side-by-side comparison #### Grok Bot: an agent with its own computer xAI launched Grok Bot on August 11, 2026 as a beta, describing it as a team of always-on agents. Each Bot works on a computer in the cloud, signs in to the tools you already use and comes back to you when something needs approval. It's included with SuperGrok plans and with Cursor's Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams plans, and its usage is metered separately ([xAI announcement](https://x.ai/news/introducing-grok-bot)). Two building blocks matter. A skill is a reusable set of instructions for one task, and your skills form one private library shared by all your Bots. A routine tells a Bot when to run: on a schedule such as every weekday at 8 a.m., or when an event arrives from Slack, GitHub, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty, email or a webhook. A Bot can own up to 50 routines, schedules must be at least five minutes apart and the app keeps the 20 most recent runs of each routine ([xAI docs](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/skills-routines-and-automations)). Sharing comes in two forms. Inside a team, sharing doesn't make a copy: teammates use the same Bot, as Collaborators who can chat or Managers who can change it, while each person's chat stays private ([xAI shared Bots docs](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/shared-bots)). Publicly, creators publish x.ai/bot links with an "Add to Grok Bot" button that gives each person their own copy of the setup. Those public links are what [GrokShelf lists and verifies](/bots). Creators usually announce them on X — see the launch posts for [Bodyguard](https://x.com/liam_fallen/status/2093383136621060285) or [Research Bot](https://x.com/ArthurMacwaters/status/2093412671144296661) for typical examples. #### ChatGPT custom GPTs: a configured assistant, now being retired A custom GPT is a version of ChatGPT with a name, instructions, optional knowledge files and capabilities such as web search, image generation, Canvas and Code Interpreter. Instructions define how it behaves in every conversation; knowledge holds reference material, up to 20 files of up to 512 MB each. To reach outside systems, a GPT can use apps or custom actions that call APIs you define, but not both at the same time ([OpenAI help center](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8554397-creating-a-gpt)). The bigger news is the retirement. OpenAI says it plans to retire custom GPTs and help creators move their workflows to plugins, which bundle reusable instructions, reference files and connected apps. New GPT creation and publishing are no longer available on personal accounts (Free, Go, Plus and Pro). Standard retirement is scheduled for December 11, 2026; FedRAMP workspaces and approved deferrals have until February 11, 2027. Existing GPTs keep working until then, and a migrated GPT becomes read-only. If you have a GPT you rely on, the practical step is to export its instructions and file list now, then follow OpenAI's migration notice for your plan. #### Claude Skills: expertise Claude loads on demand A Claude Skill is a folder built around a SKILL.md file. Its frontmatter needs a name (up to 64 lowercase characters) and a description (up to 1,024 characters) that says what the Skill does and when to use it. Claude keeps only that name and description in context — about 100 tokens per Skill — and reads the full instructions only when a request matches. Bundled scripts run without their code entering the context window, so a Skill can carry large references at little cost ([Anthropic docs](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/agents-and-tools/agent-skills/overview)). Skills work in the Claude apps, Claude Code and the Claude API, and Anthropic ships ready-made Skills for PowerPoint, Excel, Word and PDF files. They don't sync between surfaces, though: a Skill uploaded in the Claude app is private to that user, one uploaded through the API is available to the whole workspace, and Claude Code reads Skills from personal or project folders. On the API, Skills run without network access. Anthropic's security advice is blunt: only use Skills you wrote yourself or got from Anthropic, because a Skill can run code. #### Which one should you use? Choose a Grok Bot when the work should happen without you starting it: a morning briefing, triaging new issues as they arrive or a weekly competitor check. The scheduling, event triggers and dedicated computer are the point. Our roundup of [the best Grok Bots for coding, research and productivity](/guides/best-grok-bots-coding-research-productivity) shows what that looks like in practice. Choose a Claude Skill when you already work in Claude and want one task done the same way every time: your report format, your code-review checklist, your brand voice. It's a capability rather than an assistant, so it suits people who live in Claude Code or the Claude apps. Avoid starting anything new as a custom GPT. Its own maker is retiring it, so build new assistants on OpenAI's plugins instead, and plan the move for any GPT you depend on. Notice that all three converge on the same idea: write a job's instructions once and reuse them. A well-written Grok Bot skill and a well-written Claude Skill look much alike, so the effort of writing down how a task should be done carries over even when the platform doesn't. ### The best Grok Bots for coding, research and productivity - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/best-grok-bots-coding-research-productivity - Published: 2026-10-31 Short answer: for coding, start with PR Reviewer if you review code and loops if you run coding agents. For research, Research Bot gives cited answers and Competitor Watching tells you only when a rival changes something. For productivity, Bodyguard triages requests without ever replying for you. Below are fifteen verified picks across the three jobs, with how we chose them, who built them and when we last checked each one. #### How we chose these Bots There is no public install count or rating for Grok Bots, so this list is not a popularity ranking. It is an editorial shortlist from the [verified shared Bots on GrokShelf](/bots), judged on four things we can actually check. First, the Bot must be live: its x.ai share page has to load, show the "Add to Grok Bot" button and name the Bot and its creator. We re-check every listing on a rolling schedule, and each pick below shows the date of its latest check. Second, a real person has to stand behind it, so every pick links to its creator's own launch post on X. Third, the job has to be specific: a Bot that says exactly what it does beats one that promises to do everything. Fourth, it has to say where it stops. We favour Bots that read before they write, draft before they send and ask before anything irreversible, which is also what xAI recommends in its [own documentation on routines and approvals](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/skills-routines-and-automations). What we did not do: we have not run each Bot against private repositories or inboxes, and we do not publish output-quality scores. Treat these as well-built starting points, then test them on your own low-stakes work. #### Quick picks #### Best Grok Bots for coding - [PR Reviewer](https://grokshelf.com/bots/pr-reviewer): Point it at a pull request and it opens with the uncomfortable part: what could break, what isn't tested and where the context is too thin to judge. That ordering is the whole point. A human reviewer's attention goes to the risky part of the diff instead of being spread evenly across every line. It suits small teams where one person reviews most changes. - [loops](https://grokshelf.com/bots/loops): If you already hand work to coding agents, loops sits one level above them. It gathers repository context, writes goal prompts that can be tested, launches the work, reviews the evidence and guides the merge. The useful habit it enforces is proof: work isn't done because an agent says so, it's done when the evidence checks out. - [Cursor Agent](https://grokshelf.com/bots/cursor-agent): A local-only Bot that drives the cursor-agent CLI on your own laptop for experiments, while cloud agents stay the default for GitHub pull requests. Its creator sums it up as local hands, cloud for the repo. It doesn't deploy, submit or send anything without your explicit approval, which makes it a safe first coding Bot. - [1000x Product Engineer](https://grokshelf.com/bots/1000x-product-engineer): An opinionated full-stack builder for web apps that need to work on phones and desktops: Convex on the back end, TanStack and React on the front. What sets it apart is taste. It aims for simple, intuitive interfaces rather than scaffolding that merely runs. Pick it if your stack matches; skip it if it doesn't. - [AI Harness Assistant](https://grokshelf.com/bots/ai-harness-assistant): A small, practical one. It keeps the AI coding tools you already use — Codex, Grok Build, OpenCode, Cursor and similar CLIs — updated across Windows, macOS and Linux on a schedule. Nobody writes a blog post about updating CLIs by hand, but everybody loses time to it. #### Best Grok Bots for research - [Research Bot](https://grokshelf.com/bots/research-bot): Deep research with receipts. Every claim comes with a source, and it flags anything it couldn't verify instead of presenting it as fact. That one rule makes the output usable in places where a confident but unsourced answer is worse than no answer. - [Competitor Watching](https://grokshelf.com/bots/competitor-watching): Snapshots your company against three to eight competitors — pricing, changelogs, features, job posts and messaging — and compares the snapshots every week. The design choice we like is restraint: it stays quiet unless something material moves, so you get an alert, not a weekly wall of noise. - [Scout](https://grokshelf.com/bots/scout): Competitive intelligence aimed at organic growth. It checks rival sites daily for copy and pricing changes and tracks their search rankings and visibility in AI answers, then recommends what deserves your attention. Pair it with Competitor Watching if you need both strategy-level and search-level coverage. - [Lurk](https://grokshelf.com/bots/lurk): A Reddit researcher that turns seed keywords into evidence. It extracts exact quotes describing real pain points, builds an ideas pack from them and can draft a landing-page prompt. It only reads; it never posts or comments, which is exactly what you want from a research Bot loose on a community site. - [Frontier Model Watch](https://grokshelf.com/bots/frontier-model-watch): A morning briefing on frontier AI releases drawn only from official sources such as xAI, Anthropic, Google and OpenAI. It reports verifiable changes rather than rumours, which is rarer than it should be in AI news. Adjust its default schedule to your own time zone. #### Best Grok Bots for productivity - [Bodyguard](https://grokshelf.com/bots/bodyguard): Protects your time from requests that probably don't need you. Incoming asks land in three piles: worth your time, deal with later and probably ignore. It never replies on your behalf and only talks to you, which makes it one of the easiest Bots on this list to trust with an inbox. - [Inbot](https://grokshelf.com/bots/inbot): Inbox zero for everything that lands on you, not just email. During setup it asks you to connect each inbox you really use — email, Slack or Teams, calendars, Notion, messengers — then processes them on one repeatable routine, so incoming work gets handled the same way every time. - [Jess](https://grokshelf.com/bots/jess): A weekday executive assistant that recaps email, calendar, Notion and Slack, answers staff questions from a written playbook and posts client-call follow-ups. The playbook is the clever part: the team gets consistent answers without pulling you into every routine question. - [Morpheus](https://grokshelf.com/bots/morpheus): Decision support that actually decides. It narrows a choice to the strongest options, researches the facts that could change the answer and commits to one recommendation, naming the evidence that would reverse it. It's advisory by design: its configuration forbids acting on the decision itself. - [Spark](https://grokshelf.com/bots/spark): Not sure what to automate first? Spark asks a short set of questions, recommends or creates Bots that fit your answers and points you to the connectors that make them useful. It's a good first Bot because it helps you choose the second one. #### What we left out, and why Several popular Bots didn't make this list because they belong to other jobs — sales, recruiting and finance each deserve their own roundup. We also skipped Bots whose share pages didn't clearly state what they do on their own, and any Bot whose x.ai page had failed a recent check. If you built a Bot you think belongs here, [submit it](/submit); verified Bots go live on GrokShelf straight away. Looking specifically for an assistant or chief of staff? We cover that job in more depth in [the best Grok Bots for a personal assistant](/guides/best-grok-bots-personal-assistant). New to Grok Bots altogether? Start with [what a Grok Bot is and how shared Bots work](/guides/what-is-a-grok-bot). #### How to try one without regret ### What is a Grok Bot? Shared Bots, Templates and Routines explained - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/what-is-a-grok-bot - Published: 2026-10-30 A Grok Bot is an always-on AI teammate in xAI's Grok Bot product. Each Bot has its own computer, signs in to the tools you already use, works through a job from start to finish and checks in with you when something needs your approval. A shared Grok Bot is one whose creator has published its setup as a public x.ai/bot link, so anyone can add a copy to their own account. #### What a Grok Bot does A Bot is built around a job rather than a single prompt: triaging an inbox, researching accounts, reviewing pull requests or writing a weekly briefing. It keeps working context between runs, uses the tools you connect and can run on a schedule. Good Bots are explicit about where they stop. Many draft work for you to approve instead of sending, publishing or spending on their own. #### Shared Bots and x.ai share links When a creator shares a Bot publicly, it gets a page at x.ai/bot/… with an "Add to Grok Bot" button. Adding it copies the Bot's public configuration — its instructions, skills and routines — into your own account. It does not give you the creator's logins, computer or conversation history, and it does not give the creator access to yours. You connect your own tools after adding it. #### Bots, Blueprints, skills and routines compared #### How to add a shared Grok Bot #### How GrokShelf verifies public Bots Every listing marked Public Bot links to a canonical x.ai/bot share page. GrokShelf checks that the page exists, shows the "Add to Grok Bot" action and names the Bot and its creator, then re-checks it on a schedule. Each Bot page shows the date of its latest check. A check is not a review. The Public Bot badge means the share page was real when we last looked. It does not mean the Bot is good at the job, safe with your accounts, or written up by us. Listings with a stated audience and example tasks are the ones we describe in full. Other verified Bots stay searchable in [Explore](/explore) without being treated as finished guides. #### Where a Grok Bot actually runs The desktop app runs on a Mac (Apple silicon or Intel), Windows (x64 or Arm), and Linux (x64 or Arm). Phones use the iPhone app on iOS 18 or later, or the Android app on Android 9 or later. Installers are on the [Grok Bot download page](https://cursor.com/download/bot) and at [x.ai/bot](https://x.ai/bot). There is no separate Grok Bot account: the desktop app signs in with the Cursor account that holds your plan, or with a Grok account when access comes from a Grok Business seat ([get started](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started)). The work itself happens on a cloud computer the Bots share, not on the laptop you close. From the phone you can message a Bot, watch that computer, approve an action, and pause a routine. Teaching a workflow by demonstrating it, testing a routine, and updating the computer stay on the desktop app. Prices, the trial, and which plans include it are in [how much Grok Bot costs](/guides/grok-bot-cost-download). #### What a Grok Bot does, and what it refuses to do A useful Bot is hired for one job. The first message states the outcome, the sources that matter, the constraints, and where it must stop. xAI's own setup example is a product-performance Bot that preserves links, separates evidence from guesses, and never changes production settings ([get started](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started)). That shape shows up across the catalog: a research Bot cites sources, an inbox Bot drafts instead of sending, a coding Bot reviews a pull request instead of merging it. Work starts in three ways. You type or talk. A routine runs on a schedule, such as a weekday morning. Or an event arrives from Slack, GitHub, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty, email, or a webhook. Each Bot can hold up to 50 routines, and a skill you save is available to the other Bots on the account ([skills and routines](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/skills-routines-and-automations)). It does not replace the chat box on x.com, and it is not a single prompt you paste once. It also does not spend, send, delete, or change production systems unless you have allowed that. xAI's guidance is to require approval for those actions. Our [safety guide](/guides/using-grok-bots-safely) is the short version of the same rule. #### Shared Bot, Team Bot, template, and prompt People say "Grok template" and "Grokbot template" for a setup they can reuse. In the product, that setup is a shared Bot: a public x.ai/bot page with Add to Grok Bot. Adding it copies the public instructions, skills, and routines. It does not copy logins, the creator's computer, or old chats. You connect your own tools after that. The longer explanation, including what a marketplace search is really asking for, is on [Grok templates](/grok-templates). A Team Bot is the private version of the same idea. One person configures it and the team uses it. It does not get a public share link. A Blueprint on GrokShelf is different again: we wrote the setup, it is not a verified public Bot, and the badge says so. A prompt is one instruction. A skill is a reusable instruction inside a Bot. A routine is that Bot doing the job again on a schedule or an event. Grok Bot is also not Meta's Muse or OpenAI's dots. Those are one personal agent. Grok Bot is built as several Bots with separate jobs, which is why a directory of shared setups exists at all. The comparison is in [Grok Bot vs Muse](/guides/grok-bot-vs-muse) and [Grok Bot vs dots vs Claude Duet](/guides/grok-bot-vs-openai-dots-vs-claude-duet). #### How to choose one Start from the hour you lose every week, not from a long list of capabilities. A personal assistant is several jobs: inbox, calendar, follow-ups, and protecting your time. The [personal assistant roundup](/guides/best-grok-bots-personal-assistant) splits them on purpose. Coding, research, and weekly operating work are split the same way in [the best Grok Bots for those jobs](/guides/best-grok-bots-coding-research-productivity). Read the x.ai page before you add anything. Check the job, the tools it wants, and whether it drafts or acts. Connect only those tools. Run one low-stakes task. If the first week of a routine is wrong, change the instructions before you add a second Bot. Fewer Bots with a narrow job are easier to trust than a sidebar full of them. #### Where to start Browse verified Bots by the job you need done, or start with a roundup like the best Grok Bots for a personal assistant. Before adding any Bot, read Using a Grok Bot safely. Plan prices, the trial and the Windows or Mac download are in [how much Grok Bot costs](/guides/grok-bot-cost-download). How it differs from Meta's Muse is in [Grok Bot vs Muse](/guides/grok-bot-vs-muse). ### Using a Grok Bot safely - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/using-grok-bots-safely - Published: 2026-10-30 Shared Grok Bots are powerful because they act on your behalf. A few habits keep that power pointed at the job you actually want done. #### Before you add a shared Bot Adding a shared Bot copies its public configuration — its instructions, skills and routines — into your own Grok Bot account. It doesn't give you the creator's logins, computer or conversation history, and it doesn't give the creator access to yours. Read the Bot's description on its x.ai page first and check what it is designed to do on its own: some Bots only read, some draft for your approval and some take actions. #### Start narrow Connect only the tools the Bot needs for its job. A research Bot rarely needs your email; an inbox Bot rarely needs your code repositories. Run it once on a low-stakes task and read the output before giving it anything that matters. #### Keep consequential actions behind approval Set the Bot to ask before it sends messages, publishes anything, spends money, deletes data or changes production systems. Many good Bots on GrokShelf are built this way by default — they draft, and you send. #### Watch the first week of routines Scheduled routines run while you aren't watching. For the first week, read each run's results and adjust the instructions wherever the Bot misunderstood the job. #### Remove what you don't use If a Bot isn't earning its keep, remove it and disconnect the tools it used. Fewer Bots with narrow access are easier to trust than many with broad access. ### The best Grok Bots for a personal assistant or chief of staff - Page: https://grokshelf.com/guides/best-grok-bots-personal-assistant - Published: 2026-10-30 "Personal assistant" covers several different jobs: keeping your inbox under control, protecting your time, briefing you each morning and making sure follow-ups happen. No single Bot does all of it well, so this list groups shared Grok Bots by the job they're best at. Every pick is a public Bot verified against its x.ai share page. #### For a full chief-of-staff role - [Kody](https://grokshelf.com/bots/kody): Coordinates priorities, projects and other assistants from one chief-of-staff role, keeping decisions and unresolved work visible across people and Bots. #### For executive-assistant work across inbox and calendar - [Jess](https://grokshelf.com/bots/jess): Recaps email, calendar, Notion and Slack each weekday, answers staff questions from a written playbook and posts client-call follow-ups. #### For protecting your attention - [Bodyguard](https://grokshelf.com/bots/bodyguard): Sorts incoming requests into worth your time, later and probably ignore — and never replies on your behalf. #### For inbox zero across every channel - [Inbot](https://grokshelf.com/bots/inbot): Connects your email, chat, calendars and messengers and processes them all on one repeatable routine. #### For never dropping a follow-up - [Dispatch](https://grokshelf.com/bots/dispatch): Books the calls people agreed to across email, Slack, LinkedIn and X messages, so no 'let's talk' slips through. - [Post Call Assistant](https://grokshelf.com/bots/post-call-assistant): Turns each finished meeting into to-dos and a draft follow-up it never sends on its own. #### For a field or technical role - [Chieeeeefy](https://grokshelf.com/bots/chieeeeefy): A chief of staff for field engineers: prioritizes calendar and email context, normalizes event times to where you are and keeps Notion as the operating record. #### How to choose Start with the job that costs you the most time each week and add one Bot for it. Give it only the tools it needs, keep sending and scheduling behind your approval, and read its first week of results before adding a second Bot. The picks above are not interchangeable copies of one assistant. A chief of staff keeps priorities and other Bots in one place. An executive assistant recaps the inbox and calendar. A triage Bot sorts requests and does not reply. An inbox Bot processes every channel on one routine. A follow-up Bot only books the conversation you already agreed to. If a listing cannot say which of those jobs it does, and what it will not do, it is not ready to be the one you add. People also ask for a personal-finance or home Bot in the same breath as an assistant. Treat that as a second hire. A card or household Bot needs different accounts and a different approval rule than a calendar Bot. The [finance category](/categories/finance) and the [personal category](/categories/personal) keep those listings separate from this one. What a Grok Bot is, including what "template" means, is in [What is a Grok Bot?](/guides/what-is-a-grok-bot). ## News ### What's new in Grok Bot 0.78.1: shopping, Shop Pay and Team Bots - Page: https://grokshelf.com/news/grok-bot-0-78-1-whats-new - Published: 2026-11-03 **Version:** Grok Bot 0.78.1 (includes 0.78.0) · **Released:** October 27, 2026 · **Covers:** changes shipped October 27 to November 1, from the team's What's New walkthrough of November 3. Payments in the Vault arrived one day earlier, in 0.77.0. Update the desktop app to get everything below; on an Apple silicon Mac, the Intel build now offers to download the right version for you. Nine of the ten changes are in the official release notes. The tenth, Rapid fire, appears in the video but hasn't been written up yet. New to Grok Bot? Start with [what a Grok Bot is](https://grokshelf.com/guides/what-is-a-grok-bot). #### Shopping and payments **1. Shopping cards.** Ask a Bot to find something and it now answers with product cards instead of a list of links. Each card shows a photo, rating, price and store, with up to two badges such as Top rated or Lowest price. Three or four results scroll in a carousel, and you can swipe through each product's photos. **2. Product pages.** Opening a card shows a full product page with colors and sizes. In-stock options come first and options no store has are greyed out. Buy now starts an order that you approve on a summary card showing the item, shipping, total, delivery address and payment method, so nothing is bought without your OK. **3. Order tracking.** After you order, the Bot keeps watching it and tells you when it ships and when it arrives. Order and shipment cards show the store, order number, carrier and a progress bar, and digital orders leave out the shipping address. **4. Payments in the Vault.** The Vault's Payments tab sets the card or account Bots use first, and you can now connect Shop Pay there. You still approve every purchase, and the Vault notes that Grok Bot never sees a saved card's number or security code. The same release adds subscription templates that cancel unused plans and watch renewal prices; for the same job, see [AIUsageBot](https://grokshelf.com/bots/aiusagebot), which tracks spending across paid AI subscriptions. #### Coding agents **5. Custom agent modes.** Bots can start cloud coding agents in a mode you name, such as review mode, and keep talking to them in that mode. The demo starts an agent to review an open pull request, with buttons to open it in Cursor or view the PR. If you'd rather start from a ready-made setup, [PR Reviewer](https://grokshelf.com/bots/pr-reviewer) checks pull requests for risk and missing proof, and [Cursor Agent](https://grokshelf.com/bots/cursor-agent) coordinates coding work through Cursor. More are in [coding Bots](https://grokshelf.com/categories/coding). #### Team Bots **6. Team Bot logins.** Managers can give a Team Bot its own Vault of logins under Configure, then Tools, so the Bot signs in to a service for everyone on the team. Only managers can see or change those logins. On the team dashboard, Bot computers now groups team setup scripts, setup files and team secrets in one place. **7. Share and find Team Bots.** The Share dialog lists who has access, including your team and organization, and a Team Bot can be limited to only you. In a Team Bot's Library, Pages it published appear under that Bot, and you can pin the ones you use most. This builds on [Team Bots](https://grokshelf.com/news/team-bots-launch) and the [Shared Bots admin page](https://grokshelf.com/news/shared-bots-admin-page). **8. Routine connector asks.** When a Team Bot routine needs one of your connected accounts, it asks in the routine's Slack thread and tags you. You can allow once, always allow, allow it for that channel, or skip, and because others can see the channel, the Bot checks before using your account there. The demo shows this during a stuck deploy, the kind of moment [Incident Update Writer](https://grokshelf.com/bots/incident-update-writer) is built for. #### Vault and new Bots **9. Vault contacts.** Saved contact details now hold several phone numbers and email addresses, with Add phone, Add email and Make primary, so a Bot fills forms with the right details. Assistant Bots such as [Jess](https://grokshelf.com/bots/jess) and [Inbot](https://grokshelf.com/bots/inbot) benefit most. **10. Rapid fire.** The walkthrough ends with a Rapid fire mode switch on a newly created Bot. It isn't in the written release notes yet, so we'll add details here once xAI documents it. #### What to do now Update Grok Bot, then set the payment method you want Bots to use first in the Vault. If you run Team Bots, move shared logins into the Team Bot's own Vault instead of a personal account. Before letting any Bot buy things or use your accounts, read [Using a Grok Bot safely](https://grokshelf.com/guides/using-grok-bots-safely), and browse [verified shared Bots](https://grokshelf.com/bots) for setups that already use these features. We haven't found an official launch post with benchmarks or pricing yet, so this is a status note rather than a full write-up. We'll publish a proper comparison once there are numbers to compare. For teams that have grown past a handful of shared Bots, this replaces hunting through individual Bot settings. Two smaller changes make sharing more predictable. Opening a shared Bot again now shows its latest version, including its integrations, so you're not running a stale copy. And Team Bots no longer crowd the main Bot picker; large teams see their most-used shared Bots first. Why it matters: sharing is turning from a one-off link into something teams manage. If your organization shares Bots internally, give each one an owner who keeps its instructions current and decides when to retire it. That's the same discipline GrokShelf applies to public listings, each of which links to a live x.ai share page. Pages give a Bot somewhere to publish its output as a shareable page instead of leaving results buried in a chat thread, which matters for routines that produce briefings, reports, or digests other people need to read. The same release window included the v0.78.1 desktop update on October 27. If you run Bots on a schedule, check that your existing routines still behave as expected after updating, especially anything that hands results to other people. Coverage of the Vault and video features so far is light on detail, so we'll update this post as official documentation arrives. For builders, the connector work matters most: Bots that triage issues or draft email replies get more of the context they need without a custom integration. Memory that follows you between voice and text also cuts down on re-explaining a task. These details come from secondhand reporting, not an official release note, so treat specifics as provisional. In independent testing by Artificial Analysis, it ranks first on the firm's speech-to-speech index — the benchmark for models that listen and reply in speech directly, rather than converting speech to text and back. Pricing didn't change: Grok Voice 3.0 costs $0.08 per minute ($4.80 per hour), the same as Grok Voice 2.0. If you already build on the voice API, the upgrade comes without a budget change. What this means if you build with Grok: speech-to-speech models matter for anything conversational — phone agents, voice assistants and real-time support. Because the price held steady, the practical question for existing users is quality rather than cost. Test the new model against your current prompts before switching production traffic, especially for anything that handles customer calls. One person sets up a Bot once, and the team uses the same configuration. It's the team-scale version of the public share links GrokShelf lists. The difference is who can see it: Team Bots stay inside your organization, while public share links can be added by anyone. Bot usage has its own allowance, so work you hand off to a Bot doesn't eat into your regular Grok or Cursor usage. For Cursor users this is the bigger change: many already have the plan, and now they have Grok Bot too. Bots sign in to the tools you already use, finish jobs end to end, and come back to you only when something needs approval. That last part is what GrokShelf's listings are organized around: every Bot here describes its job and where it stops to ask, so you can judge what you're handing off before you add it.
